Bingo Night 18th March 2026

An inaugural SWCC Bingo Night was held at Bombay Lounge, Peatmoor, with 52 members and family attending, there was a bit of apprehension initially but, before long, it was a full house (excuse the pun). After a pre-bingo drink and a chat we started to get serious about winning money!

There were plenty of expectant faces at first, as some had never played bingo before—well, you should have brought your mother along! The first rule of bingo I learned was to unscrew your “Dabber” and not pull it, my trousers were a dark shade of green as the ink went everywhere, however I wasn’t the only one, apparently it is a rookie’s mistake!

Mandy started off by introducing Stuart as our newest club member and explained the format of the evening and, with the help of her friend and excellent Bingo Caller Sara, we all soon got into it with a few people raking in the money until half time when we took a break for food, which was an all you can eat curry.

After the break and before we started the second round of bingo there were a few birthday announcements to make, Craig, Wing and Rich all celebrated their birthdays with Rich being the big 60 in a few days. Sarah had kindly prepared cupcakes for everyone in celebration of Craig’s birthday. We decided to get some candles so we could all share in celebrating their birthdays and sing “Happy Birthday” together.

After the birthday celebrations, we carried on with the bingo with more cash prizes to win everyone was getting serious, once the last card was called the winners were celebrating and the losers were crying into their beers.

Special thanks go to Mandy for organising such a great evening, and to Sara for her patience with the rowdy club members, you know who you are! Final thanks also to Bombay Lounge, and of course to Sarah for the cakes.

I think everyone agreed it was a great night and, before you all head off to Mecca there is the Club Day ride heading to Oaksey Golf Club on the 11th of April, details will be published in due course.

Finally, it’s your club so if you have any ideas around what social activities you would like, please get in touch with Mandy direct or by email SWCCsocial@swindonwheelers.org
