Windrush Winter Warm Up Audax
Reports from Nigel Davies & Tom Jeffery
Nigel Davies
Today saw a total of 17 Wheelers take part in the Windrush Winter Warm Up 100 and Winter Warm Down 150 Audax’s. Firstly a massive thank you to Peter Holden and Corinium CC for a brilliantly organised event yet again
The Wheelers had 11 riders on the
, most of whom were taking part in their very first Audax. We had two groups, the first led by Mandi joined by Ady and David. The second group was led by myself and included John DT, Wingy, Matt, Simon, Carolyn, Mandy M and Eesan.
We were blessed with one of the finest days of the year so far as we cycled some unfamiliar cycle routes through the Cotswolds, enjoying the refreshments laid on for us by our hosts. A massive thank you to all my group for making the whole event a pleasure

Six riders from SWCC took on the Winter Warm Down 150km Audax and had a great day out. It is good to introduce people to the joy of audaxing – village halls, massive pots of tea, large helpings of cake and cheerfulness.
Top marks to Mark ‘rule#5’ for riding the last 1/3 of the ride with only his front mech working.
Huge thanks to Lee and Michael for pulling hard at the front, and to Oisin for keeping Mark on the road. Also Paul for shepherding a couple of riders around the course who maybe weren’t quite ready for the distance!

Well done everyone, some great mileage done for this time of the yearπππ
Interested in Trying an Audax
If you are interested in trying an Audax? Details about Audaxing can be found at https://www.audax.uk/about-audax/ and New to Audax| Audax UK – The Long Distance Cyclists’ Association . As shown today, it is not just about riding hundreds of miles in one ago – it’s just simply another way to enjoy the sport of cycling, with distances starting from 50km.
We have a couple of other local 100km Audaxs later this year, so please keep an eye on TeamUp. The Wheelers are also looking at the possibility of hosting their very own Audax later in the year
